Does anyone have the details of how much Fork oil each leg should have and how much please ?
Alternatively should it be measured from the top with the fork spring removed and if so what height should it be ?
Also the best weight oil to use.
Thanks
tig
Hi Tig;
If I'm reading the Marzocchi Fork Manual (http://www.heskethownersclub.org.uk/technical/Marzocchi_Forks_Service_Manual/Marzocchi_Forks.pdf) correctly; pg 7 states the oil is SAE 5 and pg 25 states 400cc per leg, but feel free to double check that...
A litre of 5W fork oil will run you anywhere between £10 and £15... Loads of different brands to choose from... (http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/fork-oil-5w)
The Marzocchi manual also describes how to change the oil on an assembled fork leg... They still want it off the bike though...
Hope that helps
Jeff
Perfect, I will go with that....
Thanks Jeff
My MHR and SSD and also the Jota all have the same forks as the H but DUCATI and LAVERDA quote 250ml in their handbooks of AGIP F1 ATF or DEXRON or equivalent.
That doesn't help much does it!
Cheers,
Robert
Cant remember how much oil,but I saw sae 20 weight oil but my forks were too stiff so it's got 2.5 racing oil in and works a lot better, best wishes Will
sae 5w or 10w if you are a heavy bastard touring in the italian sun and 250cc to 300cc if my memory is anything to go by
What was the question?

Heavy bastards are better off using a hayabusa for Italien sun!love my Hesketh for shorter rides 1000 miles max in a week, seems too precious to beat on long mways
Hesketh Owners Manual details the method of fork oil changing, including the warning to do one leg at a time - if you remove both filler plugs, the forks collapse!
Manual says 250cc of oil per leg and SAE10.
But I've always found the front forks a bit stiff, so use SAE5 which fits with Mick's advise.
