Title: Hesketh run at Dunsfold Wings and Wheels Sunday 24th Aug.
Post by: Woody on August 25, 2014, 10:59:08 AM
The Kingswood Hesketh v1000 was run at the Dunsfold (Surrey) Wings and Wheels yesterday.
It was entered via the Brooklands museum historic collection who organise the wheels part of the show.
15,000 people were at the show and the show commentators did as speal about hesketh bikes.
There was much interest in the paddock display area and the 2 airfield runway runs were fun despite being in the power bikes category which included some sprint and race bikes !
Maybe next year we as a club could enter a few bikes ?
Looking forward to the HOC Dutch jaunt in a couple of weeks- hope to see some of you there.
Bye for now.

Got any photos Geoff?  I can host them on the HOC website and they can then be linked to the forum, or you could post them on facebook and then "pull" them through to here...

Sorry I have not got any photos as I went on my own.
It was definitely interesting running up the runway amongst drag and race bikes .... I don't think the Hesketh was really designed for that sort of action ? Once it had got itself going it went ok ... A lot of weight there !
Cheers

Another great event along these lines is 'Pistons & Props' (classic vehicles and aircraft) held each year (late September) at Sywell airfield, Northampton.  I went this year with the family (it has something for everyone) and will be looking at getting the HOC a pitch next year.  By chance, Paul Sleeman and team were there demonstarting the H24 which gained alot of interest, especially as it was a riding (down the main runway) display!

Oh to have a spare £35K!
