Where is it coming from Chris..?  Most folk use a van and tie-down straps....

I've just taken mine to Santander and back (just over 2,500 miles) in just that manner...  No problems at all...

I've never seen a V1000 crated up, but I have seen one that was a bit of a crate... ;-)

Hi Jeff i am hiring a van/straps to get it to my sister near taunton, but from there to Marbella i could be using a transport company at a very reasnable £2/cube foot but they were recommending putting it in a crate they can get made up,which could also be usefull in the future.
