Hi,
Does anyone know what happened to the bike details page that was on the old HOC webpage? Registration numbers, Frame Numbers etc. I think Keith put all the work into this one.
I have to take my Bike down to the local vehicle testing station this morning because they don't believe the Frame number and this would have helped a lot.
Many thanks,
Robert
Aha..! It's you is it..?? We've had a spot of fun with this one... What was the result from VOSA/DVLA..?
Apologies for the absence of said "page"... It wasn't actually a web-page at all, but an Excel workbook... Those folk using Internet Explorer on PCs with MS Office installed could read it, but folk on Macs, iPads and PCs without Excel installed may have had difficulty...
Keith has updated the workbook and passed it over to me... I have used this to create a web-page that is still "In Work", but it was albeit completed on Sunday last... I'll get the bits and bobs it needs to finish it off done and you'll be able to see it soon...

The result of the trip to VOSA was that my bike is genuine (056/114 Black) and the case is closed. Phew!
Somebody else will be getting a letter from the DVLA. I did actually have better things to do today, such as work, but I had a nice chat anyway with the vehicle inspector about HESKETHS, of which he was surprisingly knowledgeable, and who had just spoken this morning to his colleague in Wimbledon concerning the other bike.
Good to hear that the "bike details page" will reappear in a "friendly" version. This is very much appreciated as I know it was a huge amount of work to put together.
Cheers,
You're not just "Whistlin' Dixie" there Rob...
Keith has invested a huge amount of work in validating the data and I know it's still far from finished... If Hesketh Motorcycles (Sleeman Enterprises version) produces/sells/registers any (which seems more than likely), we'll need to collect up that data too...
Anyway... Specification page is finished (I hope). You can get to it through the Spares and Technical or Publications and Articles pages. Or click on this link:
http://heskethownersclub.org.uk/Pages/Specifications.htm (http://heskethownersclub.org.uk/Pages/Specifications.htm)
The new format has been tailored to fit (most, if not all) PC screens, and opens in a new browser window, from within the HOC site.[/i] I've omitted the "No. of Motorcycles" and "Comments" columns... These are still on the spreadsheet, but not the web-page...
There are a few other "specification-related" treats on the same page... Hope you like them...

How do we add updates to the register,my bike is listed engine number 59 and the frame number is 69 reg number is *** ***x first reg 11/03/1982 nickel frame black wheels black and gold pinstripe I think it came from gus Kuhn best wishes will Formby ps it was en ten by Paul sled an this April
Hi Will;
Keith is still running with the spreadsheet and has more background info to validate changes/updates, so send the datails to him at dataman@heskethownersclub.org.uk and he'll update the spreadsheet.
Once he's done that and sent the updated sheet through to me, I'll update the webpage...
Simples...
BTW: I deleted your reg no from your first post, as posting a complete set of details on t'interweb may tempt some weak-minded types to use them for genetic experiments like "cloning"...

The Bike Specifications Page is great, plus the extras!
Some further information:
1. I was interested to note that there are two completely different V1000's with Frame No.207. I own one of them and can add the Registration Date for the list:
V1000 - Frame 207 Engine 133 - Black / Gold / Black / Black - Registered 24 08 1982
2. Also very interested to note that there are two V1000's with Frame No.114 and both with the same colour combination. The one with Engine 158 is shown as "not registered as of March 2012". I own the other one and can add the Registration Date for the list:
V1000 - Frame 114 Engine 056 - Black / Gold / Black / Nickel - Registered 13 02 1982
3. I can confirm all details are correct for the following bike and there appears to be only one of them:
Vampire - Frame 402 Engine 539 - Grey / Silver / Black / Nickel - Registered 17 07 1984
So two out of three bikes have been cloned. How many HESKETHS are there really?
Very many thanks,
Don't forget, we're now on the fourth "official" manufacturer of these bikes and that records only passed between two... I'm betting that HOC has better records than anyone - including DVLA...
Regarding the other bike with F/No 114...

This is known to be a "private build" (manufacturer #5..?) and has never been registered with DVLA... Recent attempts to have it registered (by Hesketh Motorcycles, the current owner) have highlighted the fact that it appears to have duplicate numbers for both the frame AND engine (so three bikes are involved). Whether or not the numbers came out of the factory, or out of the ether, may never be known...
As for other discrepancies... I think this is why HOC started the spreadsheet... It's through this that you can see how many repeat numbers exist(ed) - some have already been corrected - I have heard tales of the same engine number having been used MANY times, not just twice...
Maybe our bikes are not as "unique" as we think, eh..? ;)

Thanks... Wish we had some "Vampire" stuff to compliment it though...

Hi Rob;
As I replied to Will: Keith is still running with the spreadsheet and has more background info to validate changes/updates, so send the details to him at dataman@heskethownersclub.org.uk and he'll update the spreadsheet. Once he's done that and sent the updated sheet through to me, I'll update the webpage...
BTW: If you choose to include Registration No's, please note that they are held separately and NOT distributed to me, so there's no chance that they'll accidentally get included on the site...

I have sent everything to Keith for his records.
I am just finishing a spreadsheet of Carburettor settings THAT WORK FOR MY BIKES AND ARE JUST FOR INFORMATION - NOT necessarily correct though and we all know how easy it is to destroy a piston with these bikes. Hence, I tend towards a darker plug colour (dark brown at 70mph constant throttle plug chop) and I put up with 45mpg for the modified V1000 engine, 40mpg for the standard V1000 and 35mpg for the Vampire which admittedly gets ridden a bit harder. Can I post it or does it need to be converted from a spreadsheet?
The next thing I have to post or put in the SOCK or both or neither??? Is all the data for my development work on valves, springs, cams, heads, pistons, etc. which are mainly pdf's. What would you recommend, if indeed anyone is likely to be remotely interested that is?
Thanks again,

Best bet would be to upload the spreadsheet to some webspace and link to it from within the forum... It's the same as hosting a picture... If you have any problems, send it to me at the HOCAdmin e-mail.

By all means send it in for SOCK inclusion
(all articles gratefully accepted folks), but don't just send the data... Let's have the continuing story of your upgrades and how they've developed your V1000... For inclusion here, I'd be tempted to write the whole thing up and upload it to some webspace as a pdf... You can then link to it from within the forum and anyone with a pdf reader can read it...
(must be everyone now, surely..?)And don't be so sure about the lack of interest... We're getting far more folk viewing these threads than are posting in them...
(You know who you are...)As I said... If you have any problems, send the data, etc, to me at the HOCAdmin e-mail.
