Now that a new hesketh is £22k how much should we have on our insurance as agreed value? Mine is at £14k,should it be nearer £22k as that's the cost of replacement,and that still wouldn't be as they were as the 1981 original,let's stop under valuing them,any new comparable bike costs over £12k,what do you think?
Very good question. My Vampire has agreed valuation of 14K and the V1000 is 12K for original 1984 and 1982 machines. In reality, the Vampire is completely irreplaceable as an original Vampire but a very good copy could be converted from a new V1000, plus a new fairing that doesn't exist, new black chrome exhaust system (also doesn't exist), new wiring loom, unobtainable P9 Brembo Goldlines, etc. etc. for about 30K ?
Maybe consider a new (alternative) comparable machine as being the 961 Commando, if you can get one, at 14 to 15K.
I think that there can be little doubt that the developments surrounding Hesketh Motorcycles have improved the availability, maintainability and reliability of the marque. As a direct result of this, retail values have been seen to drift higher (for bikes in excellent condition).
My own V1000 is currently insured for £11k. Based on the past two year's increase in valuations, I'll soon be seeking to renegotiate this significantly upwards and would encourage other owners to do likewise...

Well... I spoke with Carole Nash earlier this week and they're sending me a new agreed valuation form to re-value the ol' Heskesaurus... I see that (at the time of posting this) Hesketh Motorcycles have three bikes listed on Bike-Trader (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/bikes/hesketh/postcode/ch454rl/radius/1500/sort/recpriceascdefault): Two V1000s at £14,995 & £15,995 respectively and a Vampire at £18,995.
I figure my own bike is at least as good as the cheapest example there, so I'll be using this info (and other sources) to up the valuation on my own bike. I suggest that all owners do likewise with their own bikes/insurers.
And, another thought... Hesketh Motorcycles claim to have sold/be building the last ever V1000 based Hesketh motorcycle... That being the case, does this mean that values on V1000s/Vampires will now increase..?
