If I go ahead with a second batch of stainless exhaust systems, who would be interested and what changes are recommended, and don't say "PRICE" because they will be even more expensive this time? They will look like the originals, complete with ballance pipe, and again be available as:
1. Polished Stainless
2. Bright Chrome on Stainless
3. Black Chrome on Stainless

Hi Rob;
Interesting poposal, but there are (at least) two ongoing exhaust programmes current:
- HOC Chairman has had a committee action to investigate cost/interested parties since HOC AGM 2011 - I don't have details of any feedback from ths action.
- Hesketh Motorcycles Ltd have had a batch of new "shorty" silencers manufactured (quantity unknown). These are stainless steel, bright polished and don't have the balance pipe.
Also... There is some evidence that the original pattern silencers cause undue back-pressure to the engine, leading to reduced power and overheating. The Hesketh M/C items are free-flowing "absoption type" silencers in an effort to overcome these problems (the original pattern having "reflection baffles"). Anecdotal evidence suggests that the new items produce a louder, "fruitier" sound and allow the engine to rev more freely (You out there Tig..?)
My point is that another batch run may have limited subscribers due to these other activities and I'd speak to Dave Kilner (see Sock inner cover or HOC Website Contacts page (http://www.heskethownersclub.org.uk/Pages/contacts.htm)) and/or Paul Sleeman (See HOC Website Links page (http://www.heskethownersclub.org.uk/Pages/links.htm)) before making any definite arrangements with Motad.
Hope that Helps
Miti
All well noted and thanks for the advice.
I understood that Paul was going to write soemthing on the deletion of the ballance pipe / reduced backpressure etc. but haven't seen anything yet. The "fruitier" sound is OK for as long as you can stand it but to honest the HESKETH was always marketed as being a rather more refined machine than the option at that time of a Ducati Darmah or MHR with the optional CONTI "silencers" fitted. Hence, my desire to keep the noise down. I do have a Mike Hailwood Replica complete with its original CONTI silencers which I have ridden maybe half a dozen times this year because it is quite frankly just an embarrassment.
The first couple of times that Tig did his noisy flypast on the Kingswood machine I admit it did sound interesting. By the end of the ride I just wished he would go away because the din was spoiling my enjoyment of my own machine with my own "quiet" exhaust system fitted...
I guess no takers then ?

Point taken Rob... I think the standard silencers are fairly "fruity" - the V1000 is certainly the noisiest bike I own, in more ways than one! ;D
Dunno about "no takers" though... I've no idea where our Hon. Chairman is with this task... He may already have "notes of interest" from other members and, if you're both looking to get a batch of "standard" exhausts, there may well be enough interest... As I said... Speak to DK

I would highly recommend free flowing reverse cone megas, they make the bike run better than std and although noisy sound fantastic
I like Will's pipes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Each to his own!
Quite right...! I took my V1000 out for a run in the early morning sunshine today... In order to appease the neighbours, I waited until the stroke of 08:30 hrs before thumbing the starter...
I also try to move off as soon as is practical and turn the old girl off as quickly as possible too... It's quite a surprise removing helmet and earplugs before turning her off... WHAT a noise..!!
I really don't think I could live with louder pipes... :-\
