Hi All,
I find the footrest position a little high for me as I have Arthritis in the knees so I'm having some footrest lowering brackets made from a high grade Titanium. The problem is, I will have to modify the read brake pedal slightly so, does anyone out there have a rear pedal for sale that I can modify and re chrome??

Have you tried Colin Evans..? Or Paul Sleeman at Hesketh Motorcycles?
It seems that very few HOC members trawl through the posts on here. I would recommend also asking Tig to place a Wanted ad in the next issue of the Sock. That won't be printed until 2014, but at least you should reach all members.

Yes I have tried Colin Evans who sadly can't help although Colin has been brilliant in helping me find other parts that I need. He suggested I try contacting Pete White who I have mailed on two different addresses with no response. Maybe both email addresses are incorrect? Colin also suggested that I search via the forum as my post.
Regarding Paul Sleeman, I have sent a mail to Hesketh a number of weeks ago and had no response. I have spoken to him twice and the last time maybe 10 days ago he took my number and was going to call me back. Guess what? No return call!
I have to say that I am starting to regret the purchase of the Hesketh even before getting it on the road. The supply of parts is so fragmented it's scary and in some respects i'm surprised that these great bikes are still on the road. I have a small collection of bikes some of which are really non standard such as a supercharged Triumph Rocket 3 and I have never experienced this apparent lack of spares provision before even on late 60's and early 70's Japanese iron!
Having bought the bike I did what I thought was the right thing and joined the HOC knowing that I would need help and support from owners who have had these bikes for years but apart from great guys such as you, Colin and Dave Hartell, it appears I'm on my own!
I'm sure I'll get there eventually but it doesn't promote confidence for future ownership.

It's not good, I have to admit, but owning a V1000 means that every HOC owner is "your friend". There were parts manufactured for (up to) 500 bikes and with less than 250 (ish) ever having made it onto the road, about half the original parts were (initially) up for grabs...
Some consumables were originally sourced from items (relatively) commonplace in the late '70s... Unfortunately, the vehicles that these items serviced have mostly fallen by the wayside and manufacturers no longer produce some items (
try sourcing new air filters outside HOC).
But, by and large, parts are available or the drawings to manufacture same can be obtained. A pair of NOS footrests came up on Ebay earlier this year and were snapped up pretty quickly... I'm sure there will be more out there...
I know that you want the spare set to modify... Perhaps you could modify the ones you have and then maintain the search for original replacements thereafter? It's a riskier strategy, but you'll get the footrests you're after... An advert in the Sock may well be the answer... Dave H (Snr) advises that the next one is scheduled to go to ptint in Feb 2014...
Personally, the footrest position suits me, but the fact that they don't pivot back is very annoying - especially when retracting the sidestand... I may modify mine to pivot in the future, but I have a short list of other things to sort first...

Thanks for that. I'll just keep searching, I have no choice. The bike is now down to bare frame with just the engine in it and I want it completed and roadworthy for the 1st April next year, sounds a long time but it will fly by!

They reckon there are still approx 5000 vincents in existence,as far as i can tell there were 137 v 1000s originaly made,there is always a price for exclusivity,Paul Sleaman has invested a lot of dosh and effort into Hesketh and must have a regular day job tomake a living as it would be impossible selling Hesketh bits.
Try not to get pissed off the hoc are a good bunch and the bikes are worth the effort.

I'm not pissed off just frustrated with the whole spares situation.
It's my fault for not doing more research before buying the bike and if I had and had discovered the difficult parts situation then the outcome may have been somewhat different.
I'm sure that all members of the HOC are good guys and all the ones I have dealt with personally so far have been spot on, I also realise that most people today have busy lives and different priorities.
Regarding Paul Sleeman, I don't know Paul and I certainly don't know what type of setup he has, however, what I do know is that he currently carries the "Hesketh banner" and as such he or his company is one of the main contacts for all involved with Hesketh. As I've stated above we all have busy lives, including Paul but in running the Hesketh business or any business, it should be accepted that courtesy dictates that you should answer all enquiries either way.
Anyway, I'll keep pushing on with the bike rebuild, trying to get it back to as original as possible in the hope that the spares I need crop up in the very near future.

I am pretty sure I have an old one kicking about, I will check over the weekend.
As stated spares really are not an issue you just have a ask around a little.
Once you get your Hesketh properly sorted you will have a very special bike, trust me they get under your skin... be patient.
