Hesketh Bits and Pieces Wanted / Crankshaft wanted
Last post by Rob B - January 17, 2026, 06:47:51 PM
Hello, does anyone have a spare crankshaft please? I have another complete bike (in bits) to rebuild but I had to use its crankshaft to repair the engine in an already rebuilt bike to get it back on the road. Many thanks. Robert

I hope it will go to someone who will ride it. Shame to keep it on display only. I took it for a spin and really enjoyed it.

Cheers J

Sad to hear the collection is being reduced. I am in a similar position, thinking about selling my V1000 (that is a bit of a project), that won't leave many Heskeths in NL. :(

The attached article was publish in the Hesketh Owners Club 'SOCK' magazine in the summer of 2024 by one of our newer V1000 owners Richard Woodcock.

Richard's Sprag failed not long after taking delivery of his bike and several members have commented on how easy it is to follow the Sprag replacement instructions.

Hesketh Bits and Pieces for Sale / Vampire for sale
Last post by JJW - December 17, 2025, 02:44:41 PM
Hi Heskethteers,
I am JJ, from the Netherlands.
In the mid 90-ties owned several Heskeths. I sold them to a friend when I moved abroad. My friend had 3 Heskeths on display for 30 years (in his living room). He now wants to reduce his bike collection. I am helping him with getting the bikes back on the road and selling them.
I became a Hesketh club member again and got lots of good info on the forum and the technical section.
The Vampire is now back up and running and for sale. We are considering to go through one of the big classic bike agencies but before we go commercial i would like to offer it for sale on this forum.
I have made an advertisement on autoscout24 to share pictures. The link is below. For details of the bike and better pictures) please contact me direct (pm via the forum or via autoscout24)
Regards JJ

It looks like Mick's proposed linkage he was testing would have been more direct and positive.

Mick's modified gear select mech didn'y carry forward.

Here's a comparison; fire damaged unique modified mech with standard production mech.

So, what's going on?

Could this be an easy mod to implement?

What would be the benefit?

Hi Jack,
The updated write up is in the Technical section on the club website.
You'll need the members password to access the Technical section - It's in Sock 143, May 2024, page 14, or you can email me and I'll email it back.
There have been many write-ups in the Sock on Sprag replacement over the years, the last one was by Rich Woodcock in Sock 144, Sep 2024, which helpfully mentions all the shims that need to be in place.
Happy reading.

That's good to know. It would have been interesting to understand whether the gear change improvements had worked on Mick's Vampire if it had survived.
