HOC ANNUAL RALLY 13-15th SEPTEMBER 2013

This year we will be holding this year's Annual Rally at Hambledon which is a lovely small village in Surrey.  The reason for this is threefold:

  • It's the home of Tig (he's the main point of contact for this event!)
  • It's a good contrast to the Summer Gathering in Scotland in July
  • It's in close proximity to Goodwood which is also holding its infamous Revival event
The Agenda:

  • 13th September - Meet at the Merry Harriers pub, Hambledon (details below) for drinks/dinner, from 7pm
  • 14th September - Ride out to Goodwood* and lunch
  • 14th September - Arrive back at Merry Harriers Pub Campsite for presentation of the 'best bike at the event' and BBQ
  • 15th September - Breakfast and depart
* There will be two groups for the ride out to Goodwood.  Although all will ride to the event car park to absorb the nostalgic atmosphere, one group (those that wish to and have pre-paid event tickets – see below) will enter and remain at the event that afternoon.  The other group (not wishing to enter the event) will be lead on a ride through the attractive local countryside before returning to Hambledon.

The Revival is the world's most popular historic motor race meeting and the only event of its kind to be staged entirely in the nostalgic time capsule of the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

It is the biggest and best historic motor racing party of the year.

The Revival offers visitors the opportunity to leave the 'modern world' behind and join motor sport luminaries including Sir Stirling Moss, Richard Attwood, John Surtees and Derek Bell in an unabashed celebration of flat-out, wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic racetrack, untouched by the modern world.

Those wishing to enter the event will be required to purchase tickets prior to the event (approximately £60). This is to be done through Tig to make coordination easier; therefore, please contact Tig ASAP if you wish to enter Goodwood on the Saturday.

Accommodation:

The event will cantered around Tig's local pub which is called The Merry Harriers ().  The address is as follows:

Hambledon Rd,
Hambledon GU8 4DR
Tel: 01428 682883

The pub has a small campsite which has allocated 12 pitches for the HOC.  Those not wishing to camp, should source alternative accommodation, as befits their individual requirements. Tig has a good knowledge of the local area with regards to B&Bs and hotels, etc.  I suggest you start booking early due to the Goodwood event!

Best Bike Award:

This will take place after the ride out at the campsite; however, the judge has yet to be identified!

Summary:

This will be another superb weekend and Annual Rally.  Please indicate your intentions, including where you will be staying, so that I can keep a tack of prospective numbers and accommodation locations.  Look forward to seeing you all there!
