Can anyone with the upgraded Broom ignition unit help another owner please. He writes:-

"I need some assistance with a V1000 with a BROOM CONFIG 1368-00-034 electronic ignition module, it also has GILL Made in England on it and  S/N: 07260327  on the box, I needed to change the battery as it had gone too flat for a re charge and didn't notice where the 5 wires went to from the ignition box, they are a set of 5 wires going to a single round terminal
1 x Black
1 x purple
1 x white
2 x black with white stripe.
I was wondering if they go to the positive or negative on the battery."

If you can help, please post an answer. He has sent me photos, but as image shack now charges, I have no web facility to link to and we're just leaving for the HOC annual rally in Wales.
Thanks

Thanks for posting the photos.

Can anyone with a Broom electronic ignition check the battery connections and tell us whether the connection with 5 wires in the photo goes to the positive or negative terminal.

Thanks

All sorted, they go to negative on the battery

What a cheap and nasty ring terminal...  :-\

I would cut that nasty thing off, sleeve the wires and use a nice crimped or soldered ring with a pvc insulating sleeve.

Just my 2p worth...

With you on that one Jeff.

Horrid!

Personally, if the bikes history isn't fully known then I would have a close look at all the wiring to see if there is anything else like this. Maybe the previous Owner worked at Halfords? Mick? :-)
